1 Scope

1.1 This Outline covers single-conductor 8 AWG - 500 kcmil (8.37 mm² - 253 mm²) welding cable intended for use in the secondary circuits of electric welders in accordance with Article 630 and other applicable parts of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70. The cable is rated for a temperature of 60, 75, 90, or 105°C at either 100 or 600 volts. The cable is rated 600 volts only when "600 volts" or "600 V" is marked on the tag and on the outer surface of the cable. Likewise, cable rated for 75, 90, or 105°C is both tag and surface marked "75C", "90C", or "105C" as applicable.
