This part of the standard specifies the minimum safety characteristics required for the design, materials to use, manufacture and testing of inflatable boats propelled by manual means, sails or engine. It is applicable to inflatable boats (including RIBs) of less than 8 m overall length with a minimum buoyancy of 1800 N and an engine maximum power rating of 4,5 kW or a maximum sail area of 6 m2 respectively, intended to be used within an operating temperature range of -5 °C to +60 °C. It excludes single chambered boats and is not applicable to aquatic toys and inflatable liferafts.
