Glass in Building - Design and construction rules - Part 1: Terms and general bases
Also Known As:
The parts of the standard DIN 18008 regulate the design for the applications of glass in the building industry for the damage sequence classes according to DIN EN 1990. In addition to methods for determining the design values of load-bearing capacity and usability, there are also rules for design and construction, e. g. to ensure sufficient shock resistance and residual load-bearing capacity of glass in the building industry. The design value of the bending strength of glass which is supported linearly on all sides, used for infill and stressed by surface loads directed perpendicular to the plane of the glass (e. g. wind, snow) for a damage sequence class among those regulated in DIN EN 1990 is regulated in (after publication of the final version) E DIN EN 16612. Rules for design and construction that are not contained in E DIN EN 16612 can be found in this standard.
