What is this standard about?
This is the first part of an international series of standards that grew out of the hugely successful PAS 55. It covers the concepts, principles and terminology relating to this generic definition of good practice in the optimized management of physical assets.

- Achieve staff awareness, commitment and cross-functional coordination
- Obtain adequate information and knowledge of asset condition, performance, risks and costs and the interrelationships between these
NOTE: the other two parts of the series are:
- BS ISO 55001 specifies the requirements for an effective Asset Management System
- BS ISO 55002 offers interpretation and guidance for such a system to be implemented
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 55000 grew out of the hugely successful PAS 55. A free transition guide to help the transfer from PAS 55 to the new BS ISO 55000 series was specifically designed to ease the implementation of the latest international standards.
