What is ISO 14065 about?
As a body that validates and verifies environmental information, you need guidelines for establishing your SOPs. ISO 14065 specifies principles and requirements for bodies performing validation and verification of environmental information statements.
ISO 14065 includes sector-specific requirements in addition to the requirements of ISO/IEC17029:2019.

Why should you use ISO 14065?
Environmental information is increasingly being used for decision-making by individuals and organizations. This environmental information can be presented in various formats. As this happens, bodies that are involved in environmental information validation need guidelines to interpret this environmental information.
ISO 14065 is a sector application, that provides general principles and requirements for the competence, consistent operation, and impartiality of bodies performing validation/verification. ISO 14065 applies to bodies identifying principles and defining requirements that meet these needs and is used in other ways, such as in peer assessment within groups of validation/verification bodies or between such groups.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 14065:2021 supersedes EN ISO 14065:2013, which is withdrawn. BS EN ISO 14065:2021 includes some technical changes with respect to EN ISO 14065:2013. These include:
- The scope has been expanded to include bodies performing validation, verification, and agreed-upon procedures in all areas of environmental information (not only greenhouse gas)
- It has been aligned with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17029
- Annex D has been added for additional requirements applicable to green bonds
- Annex E has been added for additional requirements applicable to greenhouse gases
- Annex F has been added for additional requirements applicable to non-financial disclosure
