What is this standard about?

BS EN 754-2 is the part of the BS EN 754 series that specifies the mechanical property limits resulting from tensile testing of aluminium and aluminium alloy cold drawn rod/bar and tube.

Who is this standard for?

It is relevant to producers, suppliers and users of extruded rod/bar and tube, specifically:

  • Billet casting producers and tube bloom extruders
  • Design engineers
  • Those involved in product development and research and development
  • Drawn bar/rod and tube buyers

Why should you use this standard?

It is a crucial part of the BS EN 754 series, which supplies:

  • Mechanical property limits
  • Elongation
  • Reference list of the tables of mechanical properties of the relevant aluminium and aluminium alloys
  • Detailed tables of mechanical properties
  • List of tempers used

NOTE: Technical conditions for inspection and delivery, including product and testing requirements, are specified in BS EN 754-1. Temper designations are defined in BS EN 515. The chemical composition limits for these materials are given in BS EN 573-3.

The full BS EN 754 series consists of eight parts:

  • Part 1: Technical conditions for inspection and delivery
  • Part 2: Mechanical properties
  • Part 3: Round bars, tolerances on dimensions and form
  • Part 4: Square bars, tolerances on dimensions and form
  • Part 5: Rectangular bars, tolerances on dimensions and form
  • Part 6: Hexagonal bars, tolerances on dimensions and form
  • Part 7: Seamless tubes, tolerances on dimensions and form
  • Part 8: Porthole tubes, tolerances on dimensions and form

What’s changed since the last update?

The 2016 revision supersedes BS EN 754-2:2013, which has been withdrawn. Revisions include:

  • The addition of alloys EN AW-6026 and EN AW 6064A
  • A revised designation of BS EN 10002-1 detailing tensile testing to BS EN ISO 6892-1
